IT Administrator - Level 1, Ottawa, Ontario
General Scope of Primary Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing technical support of a heterogeneous network infrastructure consisting of Windows XP, Windows 2000, 2003, Solaris and Linux machines, printers, and accessories
- Manage Helpdesk and primary desktop support for day to day user support for email, MS Office applications, Internet, Intranet, printing, database access, etc.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and network problems on various platforms.
- Ensure routine network administration and maintenance of DNS, DHCP, active directory and NFS
- Maintenance of software engineer development environments
- Monitor and optimize system performance using backup and redundancy procedures.
- Keeping up to date with security developments and maintaining a virus-free environment.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned
Required Experience/Education
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in a computer related field
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent education preferred but consideration will be given to candidates with the equivalent of education and required experience
- Knowledge and experience using Windows XP, 2000, 2003, Solaris and Linux preferred
- Experience with disaster recovery setup, failover and support
- Software/hardware installation, configuration & deployment
- A quick and self motivated learner
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Possesses strong work ethics
